Dhaulagiri Trekking Nepal

Dhaulagiri is seventh highest mountain in the world (8167m). It was firstly climbed by the Swiss citizen in 1960.It lies north-west of Pokhara culminating to its highest point at the eastern end. The name of Dhaulagiri is come through Sanskrit word: dhavala mean ‘white’ and giri mean ‘mountain’. This isolated trekking offers amazing natural scenery, evergreen forest blossoming with different color of rhododendron combined with native warm hearted people and their heady mixture of unique culture.

The South and West faces of Dhaulagiri both feature massive drops; each rises over 4000 meters from its base, and each has been the site of epic climbs (see the Timeline).Among the subsidiary peaks in the range, Gurja Himal also boasts a large, precipitous drop on its south face. It is one of the deadliest mountains in the world, with a 40% fatality rate.

Dhaulagiri Trekking Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu/ Nepal/ transfer to hotel

Day 02: Full day guided sightseeing-visit Nepal’s main sightseeing spots

Day 03: Kathmandu to Beni by bus or Private vehicle it takes around 8/9 Hours,

Day 04: Beni-Babichaur (1000m)
Once when you leave Kali Gandaki River you reach in the Myagdi Khola valley. You get opportunity pleasant walk through the fields along Myagdi Khola Valley.

Day 05: Babichaur-Dharapani (1565m)
Our camp will be in Dharapani source of wonderful panorama over vast terraced field areas. Dharapani is really beautiful place, quite and comfortable.

Day 06: Dharapani-Muri (1850m)
Now when path goes steep up to Muri 1850m, where the Mt. Dhaulagiri and some of the other mountains, ranges, summits etc can visible clear.

Day 07: Muri-Boghara (2050m)
From Muri you will find trail easy. It is simply goes down decent for few hours by crossing different condition of trails. But before to reach Boghara you have to face the trail climb a steep path for a few of hours.

Day 08: Boghara-Dhoban (2630m)
The trail of the today is not so easy. Sometime you will need help of the rope in order to make your trip completed. But you will enjoy and get sufficient experience and feel kind of new activities.

Day 09: Dhoban-Italien Base camp (3500m)
Today you will reach the Italian Base Camp where you will camp just in front of the West wall of the Dhaulagiri. Passing through beautiful forest we rapidly gain altitude and mountains burst out all around.

Day 10: Rest day
A day is for acclimatization in order to make your further journey comfortable ie Italien Base camp. A day rest makes your journey smoothly. Our guide will be organizing some walking on certain place to keep your day sweetly and make your body balance fit.

Day 11: Italian Base camp- Glacier camp (4250m)
When you cross the first glacier, probably using a rope in a couple of tricky spots, we climb into the main glacier. The surroundings are warmly spectacular, which makes up for the rough trail.

Day 12: Glacier camp - Dhaulagiri Base camp (4650m)
Now you will be reach the at Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Soon the rough rubble gives way to the smooth ice of the white part of the glacier. We establish our campsite opposite an ice-fall, set between Dhaulagiri II, II, IV and V on one side and Dhaulagiri I.

Day 13: Rest day
Acclimatization day in Dhaulagiri Base camp, the next day you will be constantly at an altitude of 5400m French pass, so rest is essential. On the rest day our guide will arrange some activities in order to make your balance of your altitude.

Day 14: Dhaulagiri Base Camp - Hidden Valley (5050m)
On above the glacier level of base camp often requires a rope, but once over the steep moraine walls we are in safer and gentler place. After a breathless climb to the top of French pass (5400m) Camp in the “Hidden Valley”

Day 15: Hidden Valley – Yak Kharka (4400m)
After climbing over the 5200m Dhampus Pass, we traverse avalanche prone slopes and then descend steeply to Yak Kharka.

Day 16: Yak Kharka - Marpha (2670m)
More steep descent leads to Marpha and a well-deserved beer over lunch. : Yak Kharka to Marpha trail is really interesting and beautiful. You can feel and experience on the way Himalaya and life of Himalaya region people.

Day 17: Marpha - Lete (2438m)
We do trek from a lovely village of thousands of white washed houses and fertile fields with different colorful crops, and continue down the Kaligandaki reaching the former Thakali trading centre of Tukche where you can enjoy with traditional trade of the people living there.

Day 18: Lete – Tatopani (1190m)
A beautiful walk, with another transition into sub-tropical vegetation and, banyan trees and poinsettias, the trail follows the river through a narrow gorge and descends to cross a bridge. After walking several hours we will be our own destination Tatopani.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Day 19: Tatopani - Ghorepani (2860m)
Steadily climbing entire day until reach to the Ghorepani, we leave behind the terraced fields and walk through thick rhododendron forest to the village of Ghorepani. We camp at the pass for the best views of the sunset.

Day 20: Ghorepani - Ghandruk (1940m)
Early in the morning on fresh air we wake up then we take tea. After half hour we start to walk toward uphill and climb to Poon Hill (3195m) around 1 hour we will be on top on concern stated meters. Whenever you arrived over you will be visible ample of Nepal Himalayas, ranges, peaks with sunrise over the mountains.  

Day 21: Ghandruk - Nayapul (1070m) & Pokhara
From Ghandruk, the trails go down to descend through the serious steep of stone, villages, rocks then terraced fields and gradually we reach to the our destination place. Then from Nayapul we go down to Pokhara by comfortable vehicle with enjoying good view.

Day 22: Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus or Private Vehicle it takes around 5/6 Hour,stay at hotel/Lodge

Day 23: Free day in Kathmandu for personal activities or join onward program or final departure
